GENERAL EVENT RULES
The Scoot’N Boots Southern Dance Showdown is a structured line dance competition designed to provide a fair, high-energy, and professionally organized experience for all participants.
All competitors, spectators, and attendees are expected to follow event guidelines and maintain respectful conduct at all times.
All judges’ decisions are final.
Event staff reserves the right to make final determinations on all matters related to the event.
ELIGIBILITY
Open to participants 16 years of age and older
All competitors must be registered and paid prior to competing
Competitors may enter:
One line dance division.
DIVISIONS
Line Dance Divisions:
Beginner
Intermediate
Advanced
Competitors may enter only one line dance division.
Event staff reserves the right to reassign competitors to a different division if necessary to maintain fairness and competitive balance.
COMPETITION FORMAT
The competition will follow a cumulative scoring format
All competitors will perform in all rounds within their division
Scores from each round will be combined to determine final placements
Line Dance Divisions:
All dancers will perform the same dance to the same song for each round
HEATS & ROUNDS
Competitors may be divided into heats within each division
Heats will remain consistent across all rounds
All competitors will perform in each round
JUDGING CRITERIA
Competitors will be evaluated based on:
Timing & Musicality – Staying on beat and in sync with music
Technique & Execution – Accuracy and clarity of movement
Performance & Stage Presence – Energy, confidence, and engagement
Overall Impression – Cleanliness, control, and presentation
Judges’ scores will be recorded for each round and combined for final results
Judges’ decisions are final and not subject to dispute
One vanilla wall will be required
ATTIRE & SAFETY
Western, country, or dance-appropriate attire is encouraged
All footwear must be safe and suitable for dancing
No props are permitted unless approved by event staff
Event staff reserves the right to remove any participant deemed unsafe or improperly dressed for the dance floor
CHECK-IN & TIMING
All competitors must check in prior to their division start time
Competitors must be present and ready when called
Failure to be present when called may result in disqualification
CONDUCT & DISQUALIFICATION
Participants may be disqualified for:
Unsportsmanlike behavior
Disrespect toward judges, staff, or other competitors
Failure to follow event rules
Disruptive or unsafe conduct
SCORING & RESULTS
Scores from all rounds will be combined to determine final placements
The highest total score in each division will determine winners
In the event of a tie, judges will determine final placement
MUSIC
Music will be provided by the event
Music will be played at standard speed unless otherwise noted
MEDIA RELEASE
By participating in this event, competitors agree that photos and videos may be taken and used for promotional purposes by Scoot'N Boots.
LIABILITY
Scoot'N Boots and event organizers are not responsible for:
Injury
Lost or stolen items
Participation in this event is at your own risk.

Event organizers reserve the right to make adjustments to:
